11 Refreshing & Cooling Summer Drinks For Kids

Summer days can be extra hot for your little ones and during these hot days, keeping kids hydrated becomes the most important thing. Rather than giving them sugary sodas, packaged drinks or caffeine, homemade summer drinks for kids is the best choice.

The following recipes are designed for busy parents and picky eaters. These recipes use fruits, natural juices, coconut water with minimal sugar. Give a try on these homemade summer drinks for kids.

 

Summer Drinks For Kids

1. Watermelon Mojito

Watermelon is approximately 92% water and naturally sweet. It keeps the kids cool and that is great for summer days.

Ingredients –

  • 2 Cup Watermelon
  • 5-6 Mint Leaves
  • 1 Tsp Lime Juice
  • Salt (Optional)
  • Water as required
  • Blender

Method –

Cut the watermelon and remove the seeds. Roughly chop watermelon.

In a blender, add watermelon, washed mint leaves and lime juice. Blend it well. Taste the mixture and add salt, water or honey, if needed. Do not use honey and salt babies below than 1 year.

Strain the mixture is desired. Make it chill in the refrigerator or serve with ice. Your refreshing drink for kids is ready.

Watermelon popsicles are best to eat. My kids loves the most watermelon mojito and watermelon popsicles. Must try!!

2. Pineapple Refresher

Pineapple itself is sweet and tangy. This drink helps in digestion, if add mint leaves and boosts vitamin C.

Ingredients –

  • 1 Cup Pineapple
  • Mint Leaves
  • Lemon
  • Honey (Optional)
  • Water as required
  • Blender

Method –

Chop the pineapple roughly. Blend pineapple with water until smooth. Strain the mixture.

Stir the lime juice and muddled mint leaves. Refrigerate it for few minutes or serve with ice. Add few berries on the top for visual appeal.

Your kid might not like the mint leaves, so strain the juice well and serve.

3. Foxnut Choco Shake

A tasty chocolate-flavored smoothie. It tastes like a milkshake but packed with nutrients.

Ingredients –

  • 4-5 Dates
  • 1/2 Cup Foxnut
  • 4 Almonds
  • 2 Full Walnuts
  • 1 Tsp Chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Rolled Oats
  • 1 Tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • Blender

Method –

Soak all the ingredients in milk for 20-30 minutes except cocoa powder. You can omit dates and add banana for the sweetness.

In a blender, pour the the soaked mixture. Add cocoa powder and blend it until smooth. Let it rest in the refrigerate and serve.

Garnish with a small piece of date or walnut or a fun straw. A Healthy and homemade chocolate shake is ready to drink.

4. Mango Shake

A shake made with fresh mango and milk. Rich in vitamin C and A and Calcium.

Ingredients –

  • 1 Ripe Mango
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tsp Honey/Maple Syrup (Optional)
  • Blender

Method –

Peel the mango and roughly chopped about 1 Cup. In a BPA Blender, add mango chunks and milk together. Add ice, if desired. Blend it until smooth and creamy.

Before adding honey or maple syrup, taste the mango shake for sweetness. Pour into a glass. You can add a scoop of any ice cream or mango chunk for visual purpose.

Shelf Life –

  • Up to 12-24 hours
  • Stir mango shake before serve

5. Orange & Carrot Juice

A drink that has sweet and tangy taste together. It is a full of Vitamin A & C. Orange and Carrot together support eye sight.

  • 2 Oranges
  • 1 Carrot
  •  Water as required
  • Juicer

Method –

Peel the oranges and carrot. Juice or blend the oranges and carrot. Add water, if required.

Strain the mixture for smoothness. Serve with ice and garnish it with piece of orange or stick of carrot.

You can freeze this juice in a popsicle mold. Kids will love this carrot and orange summer drink as a popsicle for sure.

  • 4-5 Big Strawberries
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Cup Yogurt/Milk
  • 1 Tsp Honey/Maple Syrup
  • Blender
  • Water as required

Method –

In a blender, add washed strawberries and peeled banana, yogurt or milk of your choice.

Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste the mixture, if required add honey or maple syrup. Drink fresh and serve it with a slice of strawberry or banana.

Stir pineapple chunks and orange juice. Refrigerate this refreshing summer drink and serve with a pineapple chunk with umbrella.

8. Berry Smoothies

Enjoy this Colorful and Healthy summer drink as a smoothie of frozen berries.

Ingredients –

  • Mixed Berries
  • 1 Cup Yogurt/Milk
  • 1-2 Tsp Honey/Maple Syrup
  • Blender
  • Ice Cubes (Optional)

Method –

Blend all the berries with milk/yogurt until smooth. Add maple syrup or honey and ice cubes to adjust the consistency.

Serve with a berry skewer or swirl of yogurt on top or garnish with some chunks of berries.

9. Rose Joy

A pink drink that gives you instant calmness made with milk, rose syrup or water.

Ingredients –

  • 1 Cup Milk/Water
  • 1 Tbsp Rose Syrup/ Rose Water
  • 1 Tsp Maple Syrup (Optional)

Method –

In a glass, pour your preferred milk. Stir in rose syrup or rose water.

Taste it, if needed add a spoon of maple syrup or sugar. Skip sugar, if baby is below than a year.

Top up with a few crushed rose petals or dry fruits powder.

This Tangy drink helps to beat the heat instantly.

Ingredients –

  • 1-2 Tbsp Lemon
  • Mint Leaves
  • Water
  • Honey, Sugar or Maple Syrup

Method –

Take a lemonade glass for kids, remove seeds and squeeze a lemon. You can check Amazon for lemon juice.

Now, Smash few mint leaves in the glass. Add sugar, honey or maple syrup, dissolve in a little warm water. Let your kid taste, if required adjust sweetness and dilution.

Do not add honey, sugar or maple syrup for kids below 1 year old.

11. Mango Refresher

Tangy and refreshing summer drink for kids.

Ingredients –

  • 3-4 Unripe Mangoes
  • Chat Masala
  • Mint Leaves
  • Honey/Mishri/Gud
  • Water as required
  • Blender

Method –

Wash the unripe mangoes. Take a pressure cooker, pour some water and let it whistle for 2 times.

Let it cool down and peel it. Scrap out the mango pulp in a bowl.

In a blender, add mango pulp, mint leaves, chat masala and sweetener of your choice.

Take a glass and mix the puree with water. Store the rest of the puree in an air tight container. This mango pulp is the best as a summer drink for kids.
